Growth of Thonet.
1873, he produced 80 models. 1884, he produced 110 models. 1904, J & J Kohn produced 400 models. 1911 to 1915, Thonet produced 1400 models. Thus, for the Michael Thonet or J & J Kohn Bentwood chairs or settees, we would rank the settee as good to excellent. The reason being, there are four slotted wood screws that are not original and there is a split in the inner curve piece. Split appears to be stabilized and not worth gluing. No visible provenance underside. Earliest example of similar models appeared in Thonet catalog in 1859, Gebruder Thonet catalog in 1873, 1884 similar to settee model No. 2 or 4 except with cane backs and Kohn's 1904 catalogs. It is in original patina -- untouched. $1,600 Exit to Furniture and Decor Page ...........................................................
